This month in 1959, the last remaining families who called Chavez Ravine home were forcefully displaced from their homes to make way for Dodgers Stadium. . Through the use of eminent domain, many Mexican-American families were forced to move out of Chavez Ravine in the 50s with the promise that new affordable housing would be built. The housing was never built and families were permanently displaced. . Empowering our communities to have a voice is critical to ensuring that these histories of displacement keep from repeating.
