Our mission is to provide attendance support to lower-income public school students in the form of feminine hygiene products, other personal care items and clothing that enable students to attend school when they otherwise would not. SAS was formed when we learned that feminine hygiene products are not covered by the SNAP or WIC programs and that educators were reporting that the unavailability of feminine hygiene products regularly causes lower-income girls to miss valuable school time. We soon learned from our school partners that there are a number of other barriers to school attendance facing lower-income girls and boys, and our mission expanded to include addressing these, as well.
