The specific purpose for which the IIT Bombay Heritage Foundation (IITBHF) was founded was to fund and promote education and research among students of the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. The organization will achieve its goals by providing financial and other resources towards the Indian Institute of Technology. IITBHF’s vision was best articulated by Dr. Suhas Sukhatme, former Director of IIT Bombay, who said that "I dream of an IIT which never forgets that it has a tryst with excellence".
