We operate exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code. Our mission is to: * Educate the public about owning, rearing, the health, and the welfare of the Irish Wolfhound, * Provide rescue, fostering and placement of Irish Wolfhounds in need, * Provide educational and emotional support to companion owners new to Irish Wolfhound ownership, * Supporting and educating all owners and future owners on breed health concerns, research into health concerns, and studies unique to the Irish Wolfhound.

The Irish Wolfhound Association of the Carolinas IWAC was organized in 1992 by a group of long time Irish Wolfhound owners and breeders. It was eventually incorporated as a notforprofit 501c7 in 2009. Originally named The Irish Wolfhound Association of the MidSouth we received accreditation by the American Kennel Club AKC in April 2022.
