Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities are rich in culture, strength, and resilience. This AANHPI Heritage Month, we honor the experiences of AANHPI survivors and uplift their voices in the movement to end gender-based violence. According to the Asian Pacific Institute on Gender-Based Violence’s 2020 Facts and Stats report, between 16% and 55% of AAPI women report experiencing physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime. Alarmingly, 58% of homicides of AAPI women are linked to intimate partner violence. AANHPI survivors face unique and complex barriers shaped by cultural stigma, language access, and immigration status, among other obstacles. Despite these challenges, survivors continue to show strength and courage in seeking safety, healing, and justice. (fb)
