River = Spayed! 😻 Thank you all! We are starting nice and early again today. It seemed to work REALLY well yesterday as we reached yesterday's goal before noon. Which worked out perfectly because we had such a stressful and eventful day at the clinic and this was one less thing to worry about. 😊 Day 5: River We know what you're thinking. L👀k how pretty!!! Long silky grey coat. Such gorgeous eyes! 💜💜💜💜 River came to us last week when someone contacted us for help when a cat had shown up at their place of employment weeks prior. The cat became more of a frequent visitor over the past few weeks as the person kept putting food out. SUPER IMPORTANT by the way. If you're trying to help a cat in need, FEED the cat and make sure food is out all the time! Can't express enough how much this assists with successful easy trapping. Even the feeder realized this as soon as she would put food out, immediately the cat would run out from hiding The feeder did try and get some assistance from a local municipality and borrowed a trap for a few days but ultimately couldn't trap the cat. But she knew this cat needed help and didn't give up looking for some additional help. Which is where we came in. 😊 The cat was in Wakefield. Which is not super easy for us to get to. But we knew exactly who to ask! Our friend Liz over at Animal Rescue Rhode Island. Let us tell you, she went out 10 minutes after our call, and she had the cat within another 10 minutes. We just couldn't believe it. Although if you know Liz, 🦸‍♀️. Liz brought the kitty to us. She had a pretty tight old flea collar on and was pretty dirty and thin. No microchip and of course not spayed. 🤦‍♀️ Animal control contacted us too to check on her and to thank us for everything that we do. Which we thought was extremely sweet and just nice to hear. 🗣 to all involved in this rescue, as Liz tells us, "it takes a village" and she's absolutely right. River's coat when she came in was pretty dull and dusty. Even after a few days it seems much more full and darker. Shes a young girl with some pearly white teeth. A little hissy at times but once you start petting her, she is ALL over you.🤗 Shes been through a lot but her old life is now behind her and her new life starts today! So let's Spay this Stray in May! 🎉 Spaying is EXTREMELY important to end the suffering of community cats. We hope you can help us spay/neuter a total of 15 felines during our 15 days of Spay that Stray in May fundraiser.🤞 It costs us $150 to provide a female with her spay package.
