With the ongoing dismantling of the U.S. Department of Education, we’re reminded how vulnerable students’ rights are—especially for Black and Brown youth, youth with disabilities, immigrant families, and youth from low-income families. These are the youth that we represent every day, and we are expanding the support we provide to them in light of the federal assault on their right to public education. EBCLC is the only organization in the county with a team providing holistic legal advocacy to youth—for free. For so many of these young people, if we don't take the case, there is nowhere else to turn. In response to rapidly shifting immigration policy, EBCLC began expanding our Know Your Rights trainings in November 2024, continuing throughout 2025. We meet community members where they are, offering guidance on navigating immigration enforcement and understanding your rights at work, at school, and at home. Our attorney-led trainings ensure that fear is met with knowledge, and uncertainty with power.
