Ducks Unlimited, Inc. (DU) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of wetlands and associated upland habitats, primarily for waterfowl, but also benefiting other wildlife and people in North America.

History

Ducks Unlimited was founded in 1937 during the Dust Bowl, a period marked by severe drought and low waterfowl populations. Joseph P. Knapp, along with other conservationists, played a pivotal role in its establishment. The organization was incorporated on January 29, 1937, and its Canadian counterpart was established in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on March 10 of the same year.

The mission of Ducks Unlimited is to conserve, restore, and manage wetlands and associated habitats. DU focuses on the Prairie Pothole Region and other critical waterfowl habitats across North America. The organization's vision is to ensure there are enough wetlands to support waterfowl populations indefinitely.
