Alta Alpina Cycling Club

The Alta Alpina Cycling Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting cycling in the Lake Tahoe, Carson Valley, Carson City, and Markleeville areas. It focuses on creating an inclusive environment where cyclists of all ages and abilities can enjoy the sport and socialize with fellow riders.

Activities and Events

The club organizes a variety of activities, including:

  • Recreational Rides: These are held almost every weekend and cater to both road and mountain biking enthusiasts. The rides are designed for all fitness levels and are open to non-members as well[1].
  • Competitive Events: The club hosts a spring race series, which includes categories for beginners and experienced riders. This series is part of the broader cycling events in the region[1].
  • Training Programs: Alta Alpina offers training series for events like the Death Ride and the Alta Alpina Challenge. These programs are designed to support riders in preparing for these prominent cycling challenges[2].
Community Engagement

The club encourages community involvement by hosting events that foster camaraderie among cyclists. For example, it organizes annual events like the Memorial Cyclorama, which includes a BBQ and is a significant social gathering for the cycling community[2].

Mountain Biking Opportunities

The club is situated in an area renowned for its excellent mountain biking trails. From all-season trails in the Carson Valley to scenic trails along the Sierra, members have access to diverse and challenging terrain[4].

Mission and Goals

The club's primary mission is to promote cycling as a sport and social activity. It aims to create a supportive environment where cyclists can enhance their skills, participate in races or recreational rides, and enjoy the natural beauty of the surrounding areas[1][5].
