Mission City Community Fund

The Mission City Community Fund (MCCF) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization established in 1986. It serves as a conduit for community giving, primarily focusing on supporting initiatives and services within Silicon Valley, particularly in areas surrounding the City of Santa Clara.

Purpose and Objectives

The MCCF's primary goal is to enhance the quality of life for residents in its service area by funding various projects and programs that address urgent community needs. It achieves this by awarding grants to eligible non-profit organizations and individuals serving this community. The organization prioritizes proposals that demonstrate the most immediate and urgent need for funding, with grants typically not exceeding $25,000.

Structure and Operations

Mission City Community Fund operates entirely through volunteer efforts, with a board of directors serving for a minimum of three years. This ensures that all raised funds are utilized directly for community projects, without administrative costs like salaries. The board plays a critical role in evaluating grant requests through personal interviews and verification processes, ensuring transparency and accountability in the distribution of funds.

Funding and Grants

The MCCF holds two annual grant cycles, with application deadlines on January 31 (Spring cycle) and July 31 (Fall cycle). Grants can be used for initiating new projects, supporting ongoing programs, or purchasing necessary equipment. Organizations that receive grants consecutively for two cycles must wait at least one cycle before reapplying.

Financial Overview

The organization primarily relies on contributions from individuals and corporations for its funding, which constitutes a significant portion of its total revenue. Grant applications require detailed documentation, including project budgets, organizational history, financial statements, and letters of support, to ensure that funded projects align with community needs and have the potential to make a positive impact.

Community Impact

Mission City Community Fund supports dozens of nonprofit organizations across Silicon Valley, enhancing services that benefit residents of all ages. Recent grants have been awarded to organizations such as Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence and Health Trust for general support, underscoring the organization's commitment to addressing diverse community needs.
