PLS recently filed a federal class action lawsuit challenging Essex County Sheriff Kevin Coppinger's refusal to provide essential Hepatitis C treatment to people in his custody. Despite medical advances offering a safe, effective, and widely available cure with minimal side effects, the Sheriff routinely denies this treatment to people in his custody who need it, forcing them to endure unnecessary suffering and potentially life-threatening consequences from this treatable disease. .
