Homepage - International Biochar Initiative

IBI provides a global platform to foster stakeholder collaboration, good industry practices, and environmental and ethical standards to support biochar systems. Sustainable biochar is a powerfully simple tool to fight global warming. This 2,000 year-old practice converts agricultural waste into a soil enhancer that can hold carbon, boost food security, and discourage deforestation. International Biochar Initiative (IBI), a 501 (c)(3) organization was founded in 2006 to foster stakeholder collaboration, good industry practices, and environmental and ethical standards to support biochar production and use that is safe and economically viable. IBI is an international community of nearly 500 members and volunteers from over 60 countries. IBI provides the growing biochar community with up-to-date information through monthly newsletters, bibliographies of biochar research, webinars, study tours and symposiums.
