New Book: El Paso & Southwestern Steam Locomotives Just released from the Southern Pacific Historical & Technical Society, a richly illustrated book by SP locomotive historian Joe Strapac. Description: The El Paso & Southwestern was the largest single corporate acquisition that the Southern Pacific ever made—a century ago, when rail mergers were popular. Even though the EP&SW corporation disappeared in 1924, its steam locomotives became an active part of the Southern Pacific roster, a few lasting into the 1950s.
