International Network of Physiotherapy Regulatory Authorities (INPTRA)
The International Network of Physiotherapy Regulatory Authorities (INPTRA) was an organization dedicated to promoting excellence in the regulation of physiotherapy worldwide. It aimed to provide resources and opportunities for networking and collaboration among regulatory bodies in the field of physiotherapy.
Purpose and Mission
INPTRA focused on enhancing regulatory systems for physiotherapy, facilitating international collaboration, and fostering best practices in regulatory frameworks. It supported both developing and fully implemented regulatory systems, providing a platform for sharing experiences and expertise.
Activities
INPTRA hosted international conferences and webinars to address contemporary issues in physiotherapy regulation. These events were designed to cater to a wide range of regulatory experiences and offered educational sessions as well as small group discussions.
Collaboration with Other Organizations
INPTRA collaborated with other organizations, such as the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT), to advance global standards and practices in physiotherapy regulation. A notable collaboration was the establishment of a Joint WCPT/INPTRA Digital Physical Therapy Practice Task Force. This initiative aimed to develop global definitions and standards for digital physical therapy practice.
Dissolution
In November 2020, the Board of Directors of INPTRA approved the dissolution of the organization, which became effective on December 31, 2020. Despite its dissolution, INPTRA's legacy continues through initiatives such as the INPTRA Legacy Scholarship Program, which supports regulators from developing nations in attending international regulatory conferences.
Legacy
Through its short but impactful existence, INPTRA significantly contributed to the advancement of physiotherapy regulation globally. Its work on digital practice and regulatory standards remains relevant in the evolving landscape of physiotherapy.
