Our season finale features Charlie Albright, one of the most engaging and exciting pianists performing today. Everybody loves Charlie! He dazzled us when he played Rhapsody in Blue years ago. More recently he played the Greig piano concerto — famous for its thunderous beginning. Charlie hammered that famous opening home like a rock star. His performance left everyone screaming for an encore, and he did not disappoint. He came out, bowed and dove into his own over-the-top arrangement of Great Balls of Fire. He had so much power and energy that there were times we thought the piano itself wouldn’t survive. His fingers were moving so fast the keyboard was a blur. But unlike Jerry Lee Lewis, he stopped just short of climbing up on the piano. He's back this weekend to perform Camille Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 2.
