West Harrison Volunteer Fire Department is organized to provide fire fighting, rescue and other emergency services for the preservation of life and the protection of property from fire or other emergencies within the area of its operation in Harrison County, Texas. The department provides these services through a membership of volunteer firefighters. The department provides training in fire prevention, firefighting, and emergency situations to its members. The department also maintains public relations with the community and communicates fire prevention awareness within the area it serves.

Our department is served by Emergency Services District 1 in Harrison County and ultimately by the taxpayers that reside in this district. Once two small organizations Gum Springs Volunteer Fire Department and Macedonia Volunteer Fire Department the two were combined in 2002 forming the West Harrison Volunteer Fire Department. Since then we have entirely updated our fleet of apparatus and all equipment acquired 4 new stations and maintain a part time staff that serves the maintenance needs during the work week.
