Women in Sports and Events

Women in Sports and Events, commonly referred to as WISE, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering and advocating for women in the sports and events industries. Founded in 1993 by a group of pioneering women in the sports business, WISE aims to create and foster environments that support gender diversity and equality in these traditionally male-dominated fields.

Mission and Objectives

WISE focuses on providing opportunities for professional development, networking, and mentorship to its members. The organization seeks to break down barriers and promote inclusivity, with the goal of increasing the number of women in leadership positions within the sports and events sectors. WISE accomplishes this through various initiatives and programs designed to advance career goals and support women at all stages of their professional journeys.

Programs and Initiatives

WISE offers a range of programs that support its mission, including:

  • Professional Development and Training: WISE provides leadership training resources and educational events to help women maximize their potential and sharpen their skills.
  • Networking Opportunities: The organization facilitates networking through its chapters and events, creating a professional network of peers and mentors.
  • Mentorship Programs: WISE connects women with experienced mentors, fostering goal-focused one-on-one relationships.
  • Awards and Recognition: WISE honors women leaders in the industry through annual awards.
Chapters and Membership

WISE has established a strong network with 25 local chapters across North America, supporting over 6,000 members. These chapters organize events, training sessions, and community-building activities to carry out WISE's mission at the local level.

Governance

WISE National is governed by a board of directors who set organizational strategy and oversee resources and initiatives. Each local chapter has its own board, ensuring that WISE's mission is effectively implemented across different regions.

Impact

Over the years, WISE has achieved significant growth, becoming a leading resource for women in the sports and events industries. By promoting gender equality and providing necessary support and resources, WISE continues to drive positive change and accelerate the careers of women in these sectors.
