The 36th President of the United States spent his college years in San Marcos (1927-1930) and we're here to celebrate him! Come visit us for FREE! THE GENERAL PURPOSE FOR WHICH THIS ORGANIZATION IS FOUNDED IS TO PROMOTE, THROUGH THE ESTABLISHMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF A MUSEUM AND ALLIED PROJECTS, AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM THAT WILL BRING ABOUT A BETTER UNDERSTANDING AND APPRECIATION OF THE LIFE AND TIMES OF THE 36TH PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, LYNDON BAINES JOHNSON. OUR PRIMARY FOCUS IS ON THE YEARS PRESIDENT JOHNSON SPEND AS A STUDENT AT WHAT WAS THEN SOUTHWEST TEXAS STATE TEACHERS COLLEGE AND HIS TEACHING EXPERIENCES IN SOUTH TEXAS AND THE IMPACT OF THESE EXPERIENCES HAD ON HIS LEADERSHIP IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF LEGISLATION, ESPECIALLY IN THE AREAS OF EDUCATION AND CIVIL RIGHTS.

Lyndon Baines Johnson Museum of San Marcos The Lyndon Baines Johnson Museum of San Marcos commemorates the formative role LBJs years as a college student and school teacher played in the landmark Great Society legislation he passed as the 36th president of the United States between Nov. 1963 and Jan. 1969. 15th Anniversary Gala Benefit We are raising funds to renovate the museums auditorium.
