Chattanooga Area Emergency Readiness

From Article Three of our Charter:Article Three Powers and PurposesSection 3.1. Purpose. The purposes of the Corporation shall be to: function as a bottom up organization focused on facilitating emergency readiness among the citizenry; as emergency readiness is defined by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, Hamilton County Emergency Services, and Bradley County Emergency Services; in homes, neighborhoods, and workplaces. Section 3.2. Powers. The Corporation shall have all the powers necessary to carry out the foregoing purposes and all the powers of non-profit corporations organized under the laws of the State of Tennessee. In the exercise of those powers the mission will be fulfilled by providing:A. Service – Maintaining it's commitment to the greater Chattanooga and surrounding areas to provide superior, accurate, information, training opportunities, and other resources and services that its members can use to render life saving skills and materials to themselves, their families, their neighbors, and their co-workers in the face of an emergency. As well as to facilitate emergency readiness in the community at large with various programs, such as but not limited to, fire alarm and weather radio drives to provide those for free to the elderly, the economically challenged, and others, as such programs are deemed feasible by the Board of Directors. B. Inspiration - Excellence in functioning as a vetting chamber and clearing house for news and reports, official and non-official, and pertinent educational materials.C. Sustainability - To promote a growing healthy community; by encouraging citizens to become self-sufficient to such degree as they might need to survive a disaster, and; capable of developing emergency plans, and executing such plans and skills as are necessary to overcome emergencies and disasters. D. Relationships - To provide venues, for Emergency Preparedness minded people to come together, in a healthy and safe network and its forums; to deliver an understanding about the various facets of Emergency Preparedness, that people can assimilate into their lives; and to help people utilize those so that they can overcome such emergencies as may occur.E. Image - To maintain recognition as a professional, ethical, academically sound, and high quality organization as perceived by our fellow citizens, ourselves, academia, First Responders, and others who may look to us to provide sound pertinent information and guidance about emergency preparedness, and help, in the aftermath of a disaster.F. Growth - Planned organizational growth through empowerment and vision that encourages personal training and material preparation, and innovation within the context of the being prepared for emergencies and post disaster survival and reconstruction.G. C.E.R.T. - To develop a group of citizen emergency responders within the community who will; stand at the ready to employ special skills for their families, neighbors, and coworkers in the aftermath of disasters until official First Reponders can take charge of incident sites, and; will work as they can as volunteers for partner organizations such as Red Cross, County Health Departments, and County Emergency Services, and; will work in our neighborhoods in such a way as is normative for C.E.R.T. Program personnel or equivalent, within the limitations of personal safety and scope of training, during times of disaster or other emergency.
