The Issue After a productive working life that can stretch for as long as 25 years often with several owners horses can live for another five or more years. Unfortunately the fate of working horses who are too old or injured to work can be bleak. Even the most winning talented and beautiful show horse can end up in an auction pen and sold to slaughter.
