📢 Speak up for our native raptors! The current administration is trying to strip protections from the Endangered Species Act (ESA). They’ve proposed to change the definition of the word “harm” to mean intentional actions that directly injure or kill species. This change could exclude habitat protection. Habitat loss is the number one reason why species go extinct. Without a strong ESA, many of our most iconic species wouldn’t be here today. Without the ESA we wouldn’t have Aplomado Falcons like Guillermo, Peregrine Falcons like Max or Jake and our national symbol, the Bald Eagle, like Celilo. The current changes are up for comment and you have a chance to let the Federal government know how you feel about them. - Go to www.regulations.gov - Search for: FWS-HQ-ES-2025-0034 - Locate the box titled Recinding the Definition of Harm under the Endangered Species Act and click “Comment” - Write your comment. Include: - Who you are and why the ESA matters to you - Science and data that supports not changing the definition of harm - Polite and respectful language - Don’t use Copy and Past comments! They won’t be counted. - Attach any documents you wish to include and click “Submit Comment” - Comments close on May 19th @ 9:59 PM PST It’s also highly recommended to NOT submit anonymous comments.
