A Hammond’s flycatcher located in Fairbanks is now the oldest of its species at 8 years old. A new exhibit “Observing our Dynamic Planet" at the UA Museum of the North opens May 24 that explores the beauty and power of satellite imagery and synthetic aperture radar in tracking changes to our dynamic planet. “Earth is a wonderful medium for art,” according to Alaska Satellite Facility Director Wade Albright. “The exhibit is structured around all these ideas — of agriculture, forestry, permafrost, flooding, volcanoes, earthquakes, glaciers — and the different ways we've studied Earth using these sensors,” said Roger Topp, the museum’s exhibits director.
