Mills River RescueMills River Rescue Mills River Rescue and Sanctuary Our Mission We are dedicated to finding forever homes for horses and ponies in need Mills River Rescue and Sanctuary is a farm dedicated to rescuing animals in need of rescue or sanctuary. Our rescue started back when owner Patti Maroney worked for another rescue and realized how much need there was for helping ponies and donkeys so she started her own rescue. In 2017 Mills River Rescue and Sanctuary became an official 501 c3 non profit rescue. From that moment on MRR has helped rescue many ponies and donkeys from locals that may have fallen on hard times neglect or abuse and from auctions that could have ended in slaughter.
