Journey Out is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit leading the fight for the freedom and survival of all those whose lives have been destroyed by sex trafficking Journey Out's mission is "to help victims of commercial sexual exploitation and sex trafficking leave a life of abuse and violence, overcome their fears, and empower them to reach their full potential and achieve their goals". Our overarching goals are two-fold: first, deliver the critical services and support needed to break free from the abuse and violence of sex trafficking and rebuild a life; and second, to ensure that no one enters "the life".

JOURNEY OUT
Join us in wearing denim tomorrow, Wednesday, April 30th in an act of solidarity for victims of sexual assault and the victim blaming misconceptions they often face as they try to speak their stories to seek justice for the crimes committed against them. Backstory: Denim Day began after justices in the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction based on the fact the victim was wearing jeans, which they saw as requiring her participation in removal and thus implied consent. Following the reversal, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim.

The Victory for Victims Run/ Walk to benefit the Center for Assault Treatment Services at Hansen Dam is one of our favorite events of the year. We are always honored to support it in any way we can. Here’s a few pics of the event this year including the Journey Out table with Maria Alcantara representing our Medical Safe Haven Program and Jewell Baraka representing our Survivor Advocate Program as well as her recently published book.
