Overview

Puget Sound Training Center, previously known as Puget Sound Opportunities Industrialization Center (PSOIC), is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing job training and employment services. The center primarily focuses on assisting individuals with limited skills, education, and English comprehension who are unemployed or underemployed in the Puget Sound region.

History

Initially established as a branch of the Yakima Valley OIC, PSOIC was founded in 1995 and operated out of the Rainier Job Service Center until 1998. Under the leadership of Joseph P. Drake, PSOIC relocated to a new facility in Renton in 1998. The organization severed its ties with Yakima Valley OIC in 2002 and began operating as the Puget Sound Training Center.

Services

The organization provides customized skilled training, particularly focusing on career training programs for the warehouse and distribution industries. It partners with community-based organizations to tailor its services effectively. Additionally, Puget Sound Training Center collaborates with state agencies such as Washington State Labor and Industry (L&I) and the Department of Rehabilitation (DVR) to support its clientele.
