More than $4.14 million in lottery-funded grants and scholarships are headed to Oklahoma classrooms and training programs for the upcoming school years. These investments will help upgrade equipment across the state and provide scholarships to current educators to continue their education journey. From welding and robotics to health careers, culinary arts, and everything in between, these grants will support hands-on learning that prepares students for success in the workforce. “By helping schools and tech centers update equipment and enhance learning opportunities, we’re ensuring students across the state have access to high-quality, hands-on training that prepares them for success in the workforce,” said State Director Brent Haken. Learn more about how these funds are building a skilled talent pipeline across the state: https://bit.ly/43Fiwni . #OKCareerTech | #oklahomasworkforceleader (fb)

Student Spotlight: Carolyn Sudsbury, High Plains Technology Center Carolyn, a Health Careers student from Gage, recently demonstrated incredible courage and compassion on her way home from clinicals at Newman Memorial Hospital. After noticing a woman in distress on the side of the road, Carolyn trusted her instincts — and the skills she’s gained through her training at High Plains Technology Center — and stopped to help. Recognizing signs of serious medical distress, Carolyn took action: she gave the woman a ride home, urged her husband to get medical help and even contacted a former local fire chief to ensure follow-up care. Thanks to her quick thinking and determination, the woman was ultimately taken to Oklahoma Heart Hospital — and the former fire chief later shared that Carolyn most likely saved her life. Carolyn plans to continue her education in radiology and ultimately become a doctor. Her love for clinicals and desire to help others has only grown stronger through this experience. We’re beyond proud of you, Carolyn — you are truly making a difference. #OKCareerTech | #oklahomasworkforceleader (fb)
