We are a 501c3 Nonprofit Organization focused on the TNR of feral, stray & community cats. Please know we are all volunteers who work day jobs and all cat related activities are done outside of our work schedules. Thank you. PDX Cat Trapper, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that uses TNR — trap, neuter, return — to stop the unchecked breeding and limit the suffering of community cats by supporting caregivers in the management of their colonies.

PDX Cat Trapper

PDX Cat Trapper is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Portland, Oregon. The organization is dedicated to improving the lives of feral, stray, and community cats through the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) method.

Mission

The primary mission of PDX Cat Trapper is to reduce the suffering and overpopulation of feral cats by implementing TNR practices. This approach involves trapping feral cats, spaying or neutering them, and then returning them to their original colonies. By reducing breeding, TNR helps stabilize feral cat populations, improve their health, and diminish undesirable behaviors like fighting and spraying[1][2].

Activities and Impact

PDX Cat Trapper operates entirely with the help of volunteers who work across the Portland metropolitan area. The organization not only conducts TNR procedures but also supports colony caregivers and local rescuers. It engages in community outreach and education to promote the well-being of both cats and the community around them[1][3].

Organization and Structure

PDX Cat Trapper is managed by a team of volunteers, with Karen Jealous serving as President. All key officers, including the President and other board members, work without compensation[4]. The organization is funded primarily through contributions, with donations being tax-deductible[4].

Statistical Overview

Recent data indicates that PDX Cat Trapper has effectively TNR'd numerous cats, supported several caregivers, and rescued many felines[3]. Their efforts contribute to a cleaner, more peaceful environment for residents and improve the health and stability of feral cat colonies.

Goals and Philosophy

Ultimately, PDX Cat Trapper seeks to create more harmonious communities by reducing the impact of feral cats on local wildlife and the environment. The organization believes that through education, advocacy, and TNR services, it can build more equitable communities for both humans and animals[1][2].
