Essie is the nation's leading advocacy organization for women with incarcerated loved ones. We are the 1 in 4 women and the 1 in 2 Black women who have an incarcerated loved one. Our signature Healing to Advocacy model brings together women who are enduring a loved one's incarceration alone into a loving and powerful membership body to heal, build collective power, and drive social change. We will ultimately bring together hundreds of thousands of women with incarcerated loved ones to break isolation, increase resources to families, and dismantle mass incarceration's harm as a unified, loving, and powerful community.
