Friends of Smyser
Friends of Smyser (FOS) is a non-profit organization that supports Washington D. Smyser Elementary School, a neighborhood public school serving roughly 800 students from pre-K through 8th grade on the Northwest side of Chicago. FOS does this by raising funds for art, science, technology, and other programs and projects and by engaging the general community in supporting the school. 64.6% of Smyser students are low income, 12.9% are diverse learners, and 25.7% are limited English learners. Smyser is a diverse and welcoming school community with outstanding fine and performing arts programs and a strong focus on social and emotional learning.
