SPOTLIGHT: Doug Lands After a 13-year run in the powersports distribution industry came to an end during the 2008 financial crisis, Doug found his new home in the sign industry! He started working in regional sales for a small local sign shop and soon added wholesale, estimating and design to his plate. As his skill set expanded, he was recruited to join the sales staff at a large regional sign company, Canedy Sign. From there he became Sales Manager, training and monitoring the sales staff while also maintaining and excelling in his own sales goals as well as managing estimating duties. In 2020, he was hired as the Cape Girardeau Division Manager for Ziglin Signs, where to this day he oversees the operations of their Southeast Missouri branch. He continues to stay active in sales, as that’s where his passion for this industry started. In 2023, Ziglin Signs acquired Canedy Sign, and Doug was able to help in the transition of personnel. When asked what he loves most about TSSA, Doug says “What’s not to love? This association gives so much to its members. From ample networking and education opportunities to prestigious awards, programs, and scholarships, TSSA is truly committed to advancing our industry. We have dedicated men and women on our main board and state division committees that work tirelessly to bring our member companies together to share knowledge, all in the spirit of bettering the industry we love.” Doug has served on the Missouri division board since 2017, and on the TSSA main board since 2023, as well as playing a role in TSSA’s Elite Program since inception. He is a very active and involved member, always willing to help out and encourage those around him to grow in the industry. He says “If there was one thing I had to pinpoint as what I love the most, it would be the camaraderie amongst the members. We are blessed to have the best sign company and supplier members that genuinely want to see each other succeed.” (fb)
