A few weeks ago, our Buddhist Peace Fellowship team gathered in the quiet hills of New Mexico —a place where the land itself seems to remember: when the old walls crumble, we can better see the stars. Or, as Zen master and Indigenous Hawaiian leader Norma Wong said: “deconstruction offers opportunity.” Over three days, she and her amazing team of collaborators guided us, along with almost 200 artists, organizers, stewards and strategists, in a process to refine our collective sense of horizon. A world that is congruent with what we care about, a future we can see and feel seven generations into the future. This is how we find our purpose, they taught us. Purpose is a vow, alive and breathing. It is the story-song of our generation, already humming low beneath our feet.
