The Easter Island Foundation, founded by Georgia Lee in 1989, helps the island & its people through support for efforts such as annual scholarships, the William Mulloy Library, and important cultural, conservation & research initiatives Since 1989, the Easter Island Foundation (EIF) has been giving back through education to the community that has inspired the world with its rich history, vibrant culture, and monumental treasures. According to UNESCO, the unique Rapanui language is on the verge of extinction and the EIF helps support a Rapanui language program for preschoolers. Also there is no higher education on Easter Island and the EIF funds scholarships for Rapa Nui youth to study in mainland universities to gain professional careers and expertise to bring back to their island.
