Drivers and warehouse workers at Palmer Moving and Storage in Warren and Ann Arbor, Mich., represented by Teamsters Local 243, have voted overwhelmingly to ratify their new four-year agreement. The Teamsters contract, finished after nearly six months of sometimes difficult negotiations, includes historic wage increases in each year of the agreement, improved vacations, Michigan Conference of Teamsters health insurance, stronger overtime language, enhanced pensions, upgraded employee sick time, improved work rules and other benefit refinements. “Our contract is the best Teamsters agreement ever reached at the company, showing what is possible when we stick together, stand our ground and refuse to give up,” said Local 243 President Scott Quenneville. “The gains that we secured did not come easy, but the result will greatly improve the quality of work for our Palmer members.” (fb)
