The Bowling Green FC Golden Lions Academy is a U.S. nonprofit organization focused on developing young soccer players through its comprehensive youth soccer program.

Mission and Structure

The Bowling Green FC Academy offers programs for boys aged U13 to U19, targeting driven, coachable, and talented players. The primary focus is on individual player development, emphasizing long-term potential over immediate team success. Players are trained three times a week, with sessions designed to enhance technical skills and tactical understanding.

Training Program

The training structure includes three main sessions:

1. Circuit Format: This session focuses on technical development, incorporating physical training, injury prevention, and recovery. It is led by a variety of coaches and Golden Lions professional players, including film sessions for visual development.
2. Functional Training: Position-specific training emphasizes game-like scenarios and the development of the club's playing style, led by the team head coach.
3. Traditional Team Training: This session concentrates on team tactical principles, appropriate for the age and level of the team, also led by the team head coach.

Competition Levels

The Academy competes in several leagues and tournaments:

• USYSA Great Lakes Conference: Teams participate in this regional league, competing against teams from Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana, typically twice in the spring.
• Kentucky Premier League (KPL): The Academy enters teams in every age group from U11 to U19 in this state-level competition.
• Tournaments and Showcases: Teams participate in additional tournaments and showcases tailored to their age and skill level, maintaining a balanced training-to-game ratio.

The BGFC Golden Lions Academy aims to develop elite players who can transition to professional or collegiate soccer while emphasizing life skills such as leadership, commitment, and community involvement.

Goals and Development Path

The organization's goal is to create a pathway for young athletes to potentially join the BGFC Golden Lions Pro team or secure college soccer opportunities.
