Founded in 2004, as a completely volunteer based organization, GLMR grew out of the need to find approved adoptive families for abandonded Mastiffs. Due to the recent popularity of the breed, and the inexperience of giant breed ownership, many of these majestic dogs are being surrendered to shelters. Our mission is to educate the public about the joys and difficulties of living with giant breeds, rescue, provide housing, medical care, sterilization and, finally, rehome these abandonded or misplaced Mastiffs into homes where they will live with family members, as they should.
