✨ We’re not here for trophies. We’re here for transformation. ✨ I’m angry. I’m frustrated. And I’m heartbroken. This weekend at the @usamateurbasketball state tournament has been one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve ever had in youth sports. Our 3rd grade team is 0-2. But trust me, that’s not what has me fired up. What has me furious is what I witnessed, and what our kids endured: ❌ Lazy, careless referees, talking down to coaches and THIRD GRADERS ❌ Scorekeepers with attitudes ❌ Players getting shoved like it’s a street fight, and refs just passive with their whistles ❌ One of my players PUNCHED with no call ❌ My daughter HELD DOWN on the floor with no way to get up ❌ A child went home with a BLACK EYE—and still, no accountability This is youth sports?! Really? Are we teaching kids that winning at all costs is the goal? That if you’re dirty enough, loud enough, or reckless enough, you win? Where are the adults? Where is the integrity, the leadership, the protection for these young athletes? I’m not just a coach. I’m a father. I’m a mentor. I’m a missionary. And I will NEVER stay silent while children are being physically, emotionally, and spiritually torn down in a place that’s supposed to build them up. We didn’t come here just to win games. We came to represent Christ, to get better, and to create memories. To the referees who ignored the violent behavior: shame on you. To the scorekeepers who mocked and belittled: shame on you. To the organizers who allowed this chaos: shame on you Because what I’ve seen so far has nothing to do with basketball, and everything to do with broken values and a broken system. And yet, in the middle of the madness… 💥 Our 1st–3rd graders didn’t quit 💥 They showed GRIT 💥 They showed FAITH 💥 They kept pushing when the system failed them That’s what I’m proud of. It’s not how you start, it’s how you FINISH. And we will finish with our heads high, our hearts pure, and our mission unshaken. We’re not raising just athletes. We’re raising leaders, light bearers, and warriors for the Kingdom of God. We will speak up. We will defend our kids. Even if we stand alone. #mud #hoopsonmission (fb)
