SWAT Sand Wash Advocate Team

SWAT is a 501c3 nonprofit organization volunteering for the BLM in the Sand Wash Basin Herd Management Area in Colorado. Our EIN is 84-4189186. We administer fertility treatments, document the herd and provide education about the wild horses of SWB. SWAT is a 501c3 nonprofit organization volunteering with the Bureau of Land Management in the Sand Wash Basin Herd Management area. SWAT is a group of dedicated volunteers that work directly with the BLM to support and preserve the wild horses of Sand Wash Basin. SWAT manages and administers the Fertility Treatment program for the wild horses. The primary focus of SWAT is to keep the horses wild and free; SWAT believes by reducing population growth they successfully prevent round-ups and removal of horses from the range – the only home the horses have ever known. If the BLM determines horses need to be removed from the range, we will insist upon the use of humane bait and trap removal. We exist for the horse and want them to exist on the range for decades to come for all to enjoy.
