WEDNESDAY, APRIL 30TH IS DENIM DAY THE STORY BEHIND DENIM DAY💙 Denim Day originated in Italy in 1992 when a rape case against a 45-year-old driving instructor was overturned by the Italian Supreme Court. Despite the 18-year-old victim’s report leading to his arrest and conviction, the court later ruled that because she wore tight jeans that required assistance to remove, the encounter must have been consensual. Enraged, women in the Italian Parliament wore jeans on the Supreme Court steps as an act of protest.
