Clearwater Sanctuary is a volunteer charity in the service of our planet and the diversity of life that it supports. Thriving in the midst of a green canopied forest, nourished by a spring fed river, Clearwater is a natural sanctuary for both people and animals. In 25 years of service, Clearwater has cared for more the 30,000 sick, injured and orphaned animals. Wildlife is returned to nature and pets are given lifelong care. We give animals a voice, and during disasters, such as the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, or Hurricane Katrina, we serve in rescue and recovery. People also find refuge at Clearwater. By exploring creative practices of living in harmony with ourselves, our community and our planet, our education programs have touched the lives of thousands. In a peaceful, supportive environment, we offer gardening, yoga, meditation and prayer groups at our community center in Abita Springs, LA and at our retreat sanctuary in Covington, LA. Programs include: yoga, contemplative prayer, Dharma groups, animal rehabilitation, butterfly gardens
