Supporting access and recognition for contemporary artists globally. Foundwork's mission is to foster greater access, opportunity, and sustainability for contemporary artists of all backgrounds. Foundwork was started in 2017 as a response to the harsh reality that most artists can't afford to live in large art centers or attend the sort of art schools and residencies where admitted artists can find invaluable professional mentorship, advocacy, and exhibition opportunities. To address this problem, we designed an online platform specifically for artists to present their work to both established and emerging art professionals across the field. Our platform also serves as a tool that curators, gallerists, and educators use to research and connect with artists wherever they are based.
