Composer Lucy Walker will be featured on Rep Singers upcoming concert at the end of October. "Give Me Your Stars" is a beautiful and luminous a capella work originally written for the choral group VOCES8, and based on the poems of Sara Teasdale and captures the wonder of the night sky in radiant sound. Here's the poem: Give Me the Stars by Sara Teasdale Give me the stars to hold in my hand, Give me the sun to wear as a crown, Give me the sea that I may stand Unshaken when the winds go down.

Rep Singers will feature the lovely song "Sure On This Shining Night" by composer Morten Lauridsen. Based on a poem from James Agee's first published collection of poems, Permit Me Voyage in 1934, Agee's words celebrates beauty and fulfillment: Kindness must watch for me All is healed All is health All is whole Sure on this shining night I weep for wonder Lauridsen is a Pacific Northwest native and is one of America’s most beloved choral composers, celebrated for luminous, deeply spiritual works like Lux Aeterna and O Magnum Mysterium. A former Forest Service firefighter from Washington state, Lauridsen taught composition at USC for over four decades, served as composer-in-residence for the Los Angeles Master Chorale, and was awarded the National Medal of Arts in 2007.
