Alianza Agricola Inc

Overview Alianza Agricola Inc is a nonprofit organization based in Western New York. It was founded and led by undocumented immigrant dairy farmworkers to improve the living and working conditions of immigrant farmworkers throughout New York State.

Mission The mission of Alianza Agricola Inc is to assist immigrant farmworkers and their families by providing necessary resources. This includes efforts to empower them through education and leadership development, aiming to improve their economic and social well-being[5].

History and Activities Alianza Agricola began organizing in 2016, with support from students at SUNY Geneseo, The Worker Justice Center, and other allies. Since its inception, the organization has grown to include over 100 members and has been instrumental in supporting key legislative campaigns. These include the Green Light New York campaign, which secured driver's licenses for undocumented residents, and the NY4All campaign, which seeks to prevent local law enforcement from collaborating with federal immigration authorities[1][2].

Structure and Membership

Alianza Agricola is structured with an executive committee known as the Gabinete, composed of six farmworkers, and a board that includes labor activists and farmworkers. To be a member, one must be an undocumented farmworker without an authoritative role on the farm. Members are required to sign a code of conduct and participate in activities representing undocumented farmworkers[1].

Impact and Community Engagement

Beyond legislative advocacy, Alianza Agricola provides essential support services such as transportation assistance and interpretation services. The organization also fosters a sense of community among its members through shared dinners and recreational activities like soccer games. This helps combat the isolation often experienced by farmworkers living in rural areas[1].

In summary, Alianza Agricola Inc is a unique community-driven organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of immigrant farmworkers by advocating for policy changes and offering crucial community support.
