Migratory birds like this Western Tanager are back and breeding! The red color forming on this male's head tells us he's healthy, grown up and ready to get to business; or he was, before getting into the trouble that brought him to CWC. Veterinary staff have identified that this bird likely has a fracture in the "pectoral girdle," a collection of bones birds have in the chest and shoulders that power their flight. With cage rest, medication, and appropriate bandaging as needed we have high hopes for this handsome man! #wildliferescue #animalrescue #westerntanager #tanager #birds (fb)
