Dove Creek Volunteer Fire department SEE SCHEDULE O.THE DOVE CREEK VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT IS AN ORGANIZATION MADE UP OF VOLUNTEER, UNCOMPENSATED MEMBERS, WHO OFFER FIRE PROTECTION TO THEIR AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY WHEN THE NEED FOR SUCH PROTECTION ARISES, WITHOUT CHARGE TO THOSE SERVED. THIS AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDES APPROXIMATELY SIXTY-FIVE SQUARE MILES OF SOUTHWESTERN TOM GREEN COUNTY TEXAS. IT STRETCHES FROM THE CITY LIMITS OF SAN ANGELO, TEXAS, WEST ON FM 853 TO THE TOM GREEN COUNTY LINE, THEN SOUTHWARD UNTIL IT PARALLELS FM 2335, THEN EASTWARD FIVE MILES FROM HWY 277, NORTHWARD TO THE SOUTH POOL OF TWIN BUTTES RESERVOIR, AND WESTWARD TO FM 853. THE DEPARTMENT SERVES A RURAL AREA THAT IS OTHERWISE WITHOUT FIRE PROTECTION. IN ADDITION TO SAFEGUARDING AGAINST LOSS OF LIFE AND PROPERTY THROUGH FIRE PROTECTION, THE DEPARTMENT ALSO TRAINS FIREFIGHTERS AND EDUCATES THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE PREVENTION OF FIRES.
