It is charismatic iconic and graceful in the water while comically clumsy on land it used to be called a Jackass penguin because it brays like a donkey and it is a big part of the culture. Now listed as critically endangered the African penguin is just one step away from extinction in the wild by 2035 which is why we say NotBy2035.
