Another example of how the work that Impact does goes beyond the scope of traditional addiction treatment. Thanks to a partnership with USC's Prison Education Program (PEP), Impact gets to host a playwright class composed of a seven week session in which our patient's get to see their writing come to life. Encouraging a person in recovery to find a creative voice that they'd spend years diminishing through addiction can be a powerful tool in a life of sobriety. We are incredibly grateful to Alison Minami for her experience in bringing this program to a population that is in continuous need of the hope and joy that can come from such expression. The Power of Education and Art in Recovery. We are thrilled to announce that several of Impact’s clients and staff have been honored and celebrated for their recent publication in CORE/Pasadena City College INSCAPE: Healing Arts Stories and Poems from the Carceral Community, Spring 2025 Edition. This powerful magazine showcases the voices of those impacted by incarceration, addiction, and the journey to healing. Their personal essays, poems, and art reflect profound courage, resilience, and transformation. By bravely sharing their lived experiences of recovery, our Impact contributors not only affirm their own progress, but also offer inspiration and hope to others pursuing their path to wellness. This recognition is a testament to the healing power of storytelling and the strength within our community. During the celebration, we also heard from representatives of the CORE program, who expressed their excitement and appreciation for the work being done at Impact. Their partnership and support underscores the importance of community collaboration and fostering healing and growth.
