Painting with Robert Lemler I Wednesdays Robert Lemler June 11 - August 20 This class is an opportunity to study the art of painting with an accomplished painter of every genre, including still life, landscape, portrait and figurative subjects. Students with little or no experience will be introduced to the tools, materials, general practice and procedures of representational painting. All fundamental concepts will be addressed, including the interrelated topics of drawing, tone, color, edge relationships, and design. This class is also for experienced painter wishing to improve their understanding and practice of the art of painting. The foundational areas of study are the same for every painter, experienced or not! Students may work in the medium of their choice, including watercolor, acrylic, oil and pastels. All fundamentals will be explored through lectures and demonstrations, much of which will be individualized. Students will paint studies appropriate for their level of experience and understanding and paint the subjects of their choice, including simple still life subjects, appropriate photography, the cast, and occasionally the life model. The Pop Art Still Life John Schieffer June 23 - 24 In this class you will be shown the design techniques and approach to photography to create a new and contemporary still life. You will learn what makes a good still life, and how to create Pop Art in your design. John will be teaching some of the painting methods that he has found essential over the years. Covered topics will include board surface prep, drawing techniques and materials, the importance of values and color, designing a still life and composing with light, and painting techniques.
