San Diego Education Fund

San Diego Education Fund supports college access for low-income, diverse students. The SDEF mission is to provide scholarships, mentoring, and financial aid advising to first-generation, ethnically diverse, low-income college students to become teachers, scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians in San Diego. A college degree is a game changer, setting graduates up for a lifetime of benefits that will extend to future generations and throughout their communities. Especially for low-income families and communities of color—the majority of California's population—success in college significantly improves socioeconomic status, creates opportunities for better health, and encourages civic engagement.

Opening Doors to College Beyond Our Numbers Speak for Themselves Since 1954 the San Diego Education Fund has focused on expanding educational opportunities and undergraduate degrees for San Diego Unified School District students and graduates. We support our next generation of teachers and STEM professionals from their first day of college to graduation. Many of our scholars are the first in their families to attend college. The 2025 application period for STEM and Teacher scholarships is open through March 24.
