Fun surgery day yesterday! Not only did we sterilize pets so that they will no longer be contributing to the pet overpopulation, but we also surgically treated one dog's chronic head abscess plus amputated a kitty's tail. The cat had been an intact outdoor male who had a tail wound that the owners wrapped & then put a rubber band on so it would stay....but the rubber band got stuck in his long fur for weeks cutting off circulation to the tail. He's going to feel so much better now! We also had two vet student volunteers get hands on experience not only monitoring anesthesia, but also practicing surgical techniques.
