St. Joseph Family Center, sponsored by the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia, provides counseling, spirituality, retreats and healing arts in order to promote the inner growth of each person.SJFC actively pursues this mission through Counseling (mental health services for individual; family and couples; marriage counseling; medication management; anger management classes for men and women; parenting children of divorce classes) and the Franciscan Place (spiritual direction; meditation, programs and workshops) Retreats (private; spiritual; group) and Healing Arts Services (therapeutic massage, Hatha Yoga, Qi-Gong and reflexology). Founded by the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia in 1890 as St. Joseph's Orphanage in Spokane, WA, our agency has evolved over the years to meet the needs of people in our community. In 1987, SJFC became a counseling and retreat center offering counseling, psycho-education, spirituality and healing arts. In the Franciscan tradition, St. Joseph Family Center provides a welcoming presence where all can be renewed in body, mind, and spirit with outreach to those who are in need and vulnerable in our community. SJFC one of the few agencies in Spokane that accepts state insurances and offers sliding-scale fees in order to meet the needs of our clients. Our sponsors, individual donors, private grants, and fundraisers help finance quality, best practice services for those who seek services but are unable to pay.
